Over the past several years, Super-Scratch has grown beyond what we ever imagined. What began as a way to bring together passionate golfers and supporters of the superintendent community has become a national movement focused on opportunity, development, and giving back.
With that growth comes responsibility.
Responsibility to create more access.
Responsibility to elevate competition.
Responsibility to support more programs nationwide.
Responsibility to continue investing in the next generation of leaders in golf.
That’s why we’re excited to announce the next evolution of Super-Scratch events: Regional Qualifiers leading into our National Invitational.
Why Regional Qualifiers?
As Super-Scratch expands across the country, we’ve seen incredible passion in every region and a desire from the golf community to support our mission. This growth made one thing clear, to truly serve our mission, we need a structure that creates more opportunity, not fewer spots.
Regional qualifiers allow us to:
Open the door to more teams nationwide
Strengthen local and regional engagement
Build toward a stronger, more competitive national event
Impact additional turf programs around the country
Expand our ability to support scholarships and career development
Simply put, this was the logical next step.
Qualifying for the National Invitational
Beginning this season, teams will earn their way into the National Invitational at Huntingdon Valley based on performance. Qualifying will occur at regional sites around the country at varioius Super-Scratch events. Invitations will be awarded to the top Gross teams as follow
Top 10 finishers from the previous year's National Invitational (teams are still responsible for registration fees)
Philly Regional (April 27th) - 4 spots
Ohio Regional (TBD) - 2 spots
Northern Regional (May 18th) - 2 spots
Southern Regional (June 11th) - 2 spots
Northeast Regional (June 15th) - 3 spots
(No additional registration fees for teams who qualify through our Regional Qualifiers)
The qualified teams will advance to the Super-Scratch National Invitational, where the best from across the country will compete on the biggest stage.
Net Prize Pool
With continued growth in mind, we’re expanding opportunities for more players to get involved with the Foundation and our events. This year, amateur teams can also earn scholarship funds for their chosen school through our new Net Division. All players will automatically compete in both Gross and Net divisions — no separate designation is required during registration.
Top Gross teams will qualify for the National Invitational and earn the opportunity to award scholarship funds. Net Division winners will not advance to the National Invitational, but they will still compete for the chance to direct scholarship dollars to the turf program of their choice.
Looking Ahead
We are incredibly proud of how far Super-Scratch has come, and even more excited about where it’s going.
Regional qualifiers represent more than a new format. They represent our commitment to:
Growth with purpose
Opportunity with intention
Competition with character
Giving back at every level
